In march of 08, a large fire burned the roof and top floor of the 100 year old Brooklyn building that is home of our concrete manufacture. Although no one was hurt, and the ground floor shop came through relatively unscathed, there was some damage and property was lost.
During the roof's reconstruction, workers cut out and carted through the shop these huge charred beams with a thick, unique texture. They decided to take this remainder of a destructive event and turn it into something positive. Reinventing the burned wood as polished concrete surfaces for our furniture. Using rubber, they created a mold from the most interesting of these beams, and the Burn Series was born.
They blackened concrete with the charred texture as the base for the burn lamps, which they coupled with a mahogany and poplar shade to bring the wood together with light.
The industry has changed over the years but we are proud to say Wood Boo has remained one of the pioneers in the structured bamboo wood flooring industry. Wood Boo has perfected premium quality wood and bamboo flooring in the U.S. market.
With the ingenuity of the Wood-Boo™ flooring, we are in the process of securing the patents and trademark for a new product line, which is called Wood-Boo-Too™. This is the same Wood-Boo™ structural concept of a bamboo base with a hardwood surface wear layer, adding the ease of installation of the CLICK floating system. This product line is now available for view by : www.SJCProducts.com, ordering of samples and product will be available by the end of March 2009, and product will be ready for shipping by the end of May 2009.
We are absolutely excited about this new product line. We believe that it will make a powerful statement for our ecologically sustainable-engineered flooring products.
